McDonnell Douglas F/A 18C Hornet

The F/A 18C Hornet is a single seat carrier and land based fighter and attack aircraft. It is the U.S. Navy sky borne stinger. As the F/A designation indicates, the Hornet can perform both fighter and attack tasks. It is truly a multi-mission machine, being able to undertake fighter and ground-attack functions with near equal facility. Powered by two 16,000 lbs engines the Hornet can attain speeds of 1.8 Mach at 40,000 ft. It's war load is a 20-mm multi barrel cannon and up to 17,000 lb of disposable stores. When push comes to shove, the F/A 18C Hornet has a very nasty sting.
