Bristol Beaufighter Mk I

Born in a crisis: At the time of the Munich crisis in the fall of 1938, the British realized their lack of a modern fighter capable of long-range escort. Bristol responded with the Beaufighter,a radar equipped two seat night fighter.Later in the war, some of the aircraft were modified for use as long range day fighters in Malta and North Africa. It's top speed was 306 mph and was armed with four 20-mm cannons and six 7.7-mm machine guns.
