Leopard I Main Battle Tank

In June of 1957 Germany and France signed a cooperation agreement to develop a common tank designated Standard-Panzer. The outcome was the 30 ton Leopard I MBT. In its original form the Leopard I entered service with Bundeswehr (Federal German Armed Forces) in 1965. The Leopard I is equipped with a 105-mm main gun and a co-axial 7.62-mm machine gun. The Leopard I is powered by a multi-fueled liquid cooled 12 cylinder engine. The main gun can fire both HEAT and Sabot rounds.
