 The TR-1 is a single seat high altitude reconnaissance aircraft. With a wingspan of 103 ft, the TR-1 in essence is a jet powered sail plane. Introduced in the early 80s as a modernized U2, it carries many more sophisticated sensors. Though designed for tactical reconnaissance, it serves mainly as a scientific platform for NASA. Powered by a single 17,000 lb turbojet engine, the TR-1 has a cruising speed of 430 mph at 70,000 ft with an operational range of 3000 plus miles.
